The weather in NYC has been pretty horrible for the past couple of weeks. Its been raining, and snowing, and raining some more again. And to top it off, the cold is relentless and has gone down to 8 degrees in the past week. Winter doesn't seem like its going to ever end :( This cold harsh weather is terrible for my skin, and mostly for my exposed lips when I step out. My lips get chapped soo easily, they get all red and start burning. To prevent this disaster from happening, I stock up on my favorite lip products to beat the cold.
Babylips in Grape Vine, is one of my favorites when I need some moisture, but want a deep color. It smells sweet and I'm constantly licking my lips. Its not that thick of a moisturizer but it does keep them soft for a long time. This does not repair my lips if they are very chapped. Babylips also has a Dr. Rescue line, where the formula is medicated and contains menthol. I'm sure that the menthol would help repair chapped lips and I want to try that next.
I can't get away without mentioning my EOS lip balm in Summer Fruit. I mostly love this because of the smell, it smells so fruity. The packaging is obviously adorable and looks like a little egg. This lip balm is very moisturizing, but I usually reach for it because of the yummy scent. It actually stays on my lips for most of the day, and doesn't disappear like other chapsticks.
Nivea always has some awesome and unique flavors to try out. My absolute favorite favorite has to be the Milk and Honey chapstick, which I have sadly run out of. It smelled ah-mazing, just like milk and honey, it smells soo soothing. My current favorite that I like to reach for is the Nivea Olive Oil & Lemon. Doesn't it sound so weird? It smells so delicious, it smells fresh and a little citrusy. The packaging is green and the chapstick is also the same shade of green which I think is so cool because I dont think there are any green awesome smelling lip balms out there. This chapstick isn't as moisturizing as my others, but I keep using it for the scent, I know I'm crazy. I do need to re-apply many times throughout the day since my lips are super dry in the winter.
The last lip product I want to mention is one that find myself using most of the time, and has really helped my lips to stay soft and smooth through the dreadful weather. Nivea's lip butter in Vanilla & Macadamia kiss smells SOOO yummy that I want to eat my lips after I apply this. Since it is a lip butter, its much thicker to me than other lip balm formulas and it so buttery smooth and feels very silky on my lips. This lip butter actually helps repairs my lips when damaged. Im even going to compare it Vaseline, which helps to repair my lips, because they both feel just the same when I apply them. The lip butter contains petrolatum, an ingredient that is also present in Vaseline. It comes packaged in a tin, and there seems to be a lot of product so one tin will go a long way.
What are some of your favorite lip moisturizers during the winter?
