Here are some of my tips on using 100% pure coconut oil:
Hair: I have long hair. And thick hair.With lots of dandruff. Don't even get me started on dandruff! It was terrible until I started using coconut oil and Voila! gone! Basically, coconut oil keeps your hair healthier and nourishes it using the fatty acids it contains. It makes your hair shinier and stronger and decreases dandruff, itching, and all that nonsense we all hate. Personally, I think the best way to use it is to massage it into your hair before you're going to wash your hair. I get it in real good in my roots and everywhere and then I tie my hair into a tight bun and leave it for about 15-20 minutes. Sometimes, I'll leave it overnight but whatever works for you. And then just wash it off.
*When you first start using it, use it twice a week. Once you start noticing results, go down to once a week. You don't want to keep using it until it gets to the point where your hair is just oily, that would be weird and unattractive.
Skin: I used to buy a separate moisturizer for my skin but then I discovered this and I stopped. I'm telling you, this stuff is amazing! I use it to remove makeup too because it's all natural and it's good for my skin. It's like a 2 in 1...actually it's an all in one but you get the point. Coconut oil is amazing for your skin. It helps manage the wrinkles and fine lines and it also prevents them. I've also noticed that it gets rid of dark circles which is always a plus. When I use this to remove makeup, I just rub a little on my fingers and then gently rub it all over my face and it gets rid of all the makeup. Even waterproof! I only this as a night moisturizer though because my the time I wake up, my face feels really smooth and like a baby's butt!
Health: I take a spoon of coconut oil every day. Sounds bad right? But it's not! It actually doesn't have a distinct taste and it also doesn't smell like coconuts either. The fact that it is high in saturated fats can scare you off a little BUT it is really good for your health. It helps with digestion, weight loss, and it decreases your sugar cravings! One small spoon every day is not bad at all and with all the benefits that come from it, I definitely think that it's worth it.
